SELF-TAPING

ISSUE: Pre-pandemic, our LA Conservatory offered free self-taping, in hour blocks, for members two days a week. In 2018, we served over 250 members. In 2019, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation launched an On-Camera Lab in the LA Local also providing free self-taping in half hour blocks. Due to LA Local suppression, we were not allowed to provide support to our members for the past year and half.

WHY IS THIS AN ISSUE:
When COVID hit, all auditions moved to virtual and self-tape. Many of our members needed support in setting up their home studios, learning the technologies, and needing coaching and readers for their auditions. We had the program, volunteers, and time, but our national leadership denied our members this critical support at the greatest time of need.

WHAT IS OUR SOLUTION:
We want to expand our free self-taping service to every day and across all Locals, as well as offer virtual service over video conferencing programs, so our members can save hundreds of dollars a month on another cost pushed onto us by production in the way they feel is safest for them.
