NATIONAL CONSERVATORY EXPANSION

Ask yourself: Doesn’t it make sense that SAG-AFTRA should provide all members nationwide with access to the best training in the industry?

ISSUE: SAG-AFTRA does not offer access to high-quality education about the craft, business, and the union to all members in all Locals. Many of our members want and need ongoing training to be competitive in the marketplace. Our union has a duty and opportunity to coordinate continuing education for our members with our existing National and Local Conservatory structure.

WHY IS THIS AN ISSUE:
People can become members of SAG-AFTRA with little to no actual training, which puts them at a competitive disadvantage when trying to get work and can reflect poorly on the reputation of the union as the source for professional talent. We have the best educators and artists in the field and it is crucial that we provide members with a place to connect with each other and hone their skills so they, and our union, can be as successful as possible.

WHAT IS OUR SOLUTION:
We will create strong, vibrant Conservatories across the 25 Locals
with online and live-streamed classes, sending our best educators around the country to bring top-tier expertise to all our Locals, including a robust curriculum of craft, business, and union literacy.
